Let's compare and contrast the two!
The Fathom and Tangent are two distinct boards in our Zee Bracket Collection. The Fathom came first and blurred the boundaries of what a skateboard can be. With large wheels and a low ride height, the Fathom reimaginedΒ soulful commuting and urban exploration. But we always envisioned the Fathom being just the beginning β and so came the Tangent to welcome riders of all heights and sizes to the most comfortable ride of their lives with innovative basalt construction, a longer platform, and an even lower ride height.
Let's start with the Fathom...
The Fathom features an 8-ply maple construction, slight camber for road-smoothing suspension, and lifted corners (with more aggressive grip tape) to lock in your feet and reduce the chance of foot bite. Large enough for comfort but compact enough to carry on public transportation and stow under your desk.
The Fathom has a camber profile, which is when the deck rises up in the center. It also preloads the board with energy, which makes for a lively set up ideal for responsive carving and nimble turning.
Now, Onto the Tangent...
The Tangent's maple and basalt composite construction provides lightweight durability while also ensuring a smooth ride thanks to a subtle, long-lasting damp flex. Coarser griptape at the ends relays tactile feedback for intuitive foot positioning.
The Tangent has a rocker profile which is the opposite of camber, meaning the board curves down towards the center of the deck. That allows for a longer platform and a lower ride height. Both the Fathom and the Tangent offer some of the lowest ride heights for an easy and comfortable riding experience. The Tangent because of its rocker profile drops almost a half inch lower compared to the Fathom.
In conclusion, whichever board speaks to you, you are sure to get a great ride. With each board offered in the deck and bracket option, why not try them both out and experiment for yourself? Get yours below, for science!
