This past couple of sessions have been amazing. Witnessing the gradual growth of DockSessionUSA and seeing new faces as well as recognizing "the usuals" from week to week always puts a smile on my face. - Some weeks had passed since we had been back to our beloved DTLA garage of garages. I had personally spent time casing the garage during the weeks of our absence, memorizing security patterns, making sure that IF we were to return to our weekly routine, things would be relatively stress free. Ill admit, I wasnt quite sure how things would turn out. The security had been staying later and later, which in corporate terms means that someone had to make a decision in a meeting to keep these guards hanging out longer, thus costing them more in the process. So the fact that our presence had become enough of a concern for them to start having their lackeys hang around later was reason enough for us to stay away.
It's been one solid month of DockSession USA events here in Los Angeles, and we couldn't be more proud of the turnout and the incredible positivity of the skaters that have gathered for each session! With almost a decade of weekly Wednesday sessions under my belt I had known for awhile it was time we added a new location to the rotation. Downtown Los Angeles has been such a wonderful sanctuary to us for almost the better part of 3 years, but it needed a break. Security guards were starting to recognize specific skaters, and their shifts seemed to be running later and later. So I decided to tour us around for a bit, as I do when I feel one spot is getting too much heat. This particular week, Ojoom Pucks' John Baelly suggested we check out a new location. Nestled deep into the hills of Elysian Park, this absolutely peach of a free-ride hill immediately brought back memories of the golden age of Parkway Calabasas (for veterans of The Gel Lab sessions, theyll remember just how glorious the incline of Parkway really was). This new hill however; is well lit at night, secluded, the pavement is smooth with zero cracks, and the grade is steep enough and long enough for both the seasoned freerider as well as the novice looking to step up their game. It is my hope, that this new location will play host to a new rise in freeriding talent from the greater Los Angeles area, as attendees of future Gel Lab sessions can expect to see this location in the mix a lot more often!

Santa Monica: March 5 & 12, 2017 Coming from a tight skate community back in Bogotá, Colombia, I missed having an environment where people could be comfortable having different skill levels and learn from each other when it comes to skateboarding. The DockSession jams (originally created by Lotfi Lamaali in Paris, France) have always intrigued me, and I'm stoked on the opportunity to help build that community here in Los Angeles.
